I know this is a strong title. But quite a few times in my life, I was in a poverty situation. I wasn’t on the street, also this could happen.
I take myself born under a lucky star. That’s why every time, everything ended well.
Differences between poverty and riches
I won’t go into extremes. Like ultra super rich people and homeless people or people in the middle of war or something. I will be writing about the difference in lower middle class and upper middle class.
Here are some differences I noticed. Please, ad some of yours in a comment below.
1. Living space
The difference is obvious. If you are having more income you can live in better apartment or house. Not only the size of it, but also better furniture, equipment. Some people would tell you this is not an important thing. I think is good if you can afford an extra room for your children or if you can have an office if you work from home. Some guest room or exercise room is a big plus. If you like to cook and your kitchen is spacious, I thing of that as a plus.
2. Healthy food
I often hear that you eat as your income is. I believe in that. When I can afford it, I eat most of the organic food, free range eggs, .. I visit better restaurants. When I am inclined to lower middle class or to poverty I eat what is cheaper. Cheaper eggs, cheaper flour, … And this also mean more cooking at home.
Some better education you need to pay. Not only children education but also for adults. When I was broke I canceled course or courses I was enrolled in. You can find some good free courses. But not all can effort to have an internet connection at home. But is it a start. You can go to a library and read, read, read.
If you can afford it, it will be the cheapest possibility ever. A day at a beach, if you live close by. Or camping at your parent’s yard (and hoping that they will ad some money to your pocket). You can find some free or cheap vacation. But sometimes you just wish to go to Paris or Seychelles.
Even if you are living in Europe health service is NOT FOR FREE. With more money you can afford private clinic, be first in line, …..
Did you ever hear: ” I rather have 10 cheaper pants than 2 quality one”. I had the same opinion. Mostly when we consider children clothes. They grow up so quickly, they rip them while playing, … This is true, but they deserve good quality clothes. If you can afford them. They are from better material and much better to wear.
Can you find another weakness of a poverty? Or you don’t agree with these?
You can say to me, that poor people are happier than the rich one. But I know this is not true. If you need to struggle day after day just to survive, you don’t use the full potential of yourself.
